First of all sorry for the giant lack of updates, this has been because I have been extremely extremely extremely extremley with all of my local UKYP work and my national UKYP, especially the Houses of Commons Debate on the 29th of October, see it on BBC Parliament as UK Youth Parliament 2010 on the TV Listings. I’m working on distributing the petitions through all the local schools & colleges which include; Airedale High School, Castleford High School, St. extremley extremely Catholic High School Sixth Form and Language College, Fetherstone Technology College, Freeston Business & Enterprise College, The Kings School, Carleton Community High School, Knottingley High School and Sports College, Pontefract New College, Wakefield College Skills Xchange, so look out for them and sign them as they will help me campaign for free or more discounted public transport for Under 19 in the Wakefield District. Also anybody wanting to run in the local constituency elections need to contact Wakefield Council Electoral Department for a nomination consent form and nomination paper these are also available from the Youth Development & Support Service Hubs, these need to be completed and given in before the end of November.

Today I met up with Rosie, MYP from Norht Yorks (Selby) at the North Yorks Youth Council Meeting. I got great ideas and tips on Youth Councils, which speaking of them Wakefield should be launching ours in late September. Had a conversation with MP Andrew Jones from Harrogate & Knaresborough at the meeting and now looking forward to the Bradford Regional Event

Yesterday I atteneded the UKYP Regional Meeting at Barnsley Metrodome and had some great debates and caught up with my UKYP Collogues from the whole of  Yorkshire & The Humber.Furthermore we have been updated on the progress of all of the constituency and also loads of detail about the National Sitting (YAY) Barnsley did a awesome job of hosting the meeting today and we all loved being able to catch up & meeting new people

Soon I will be rolling out Petitions to all schools and colleges in the area to get them signed and filled out so that we have something to show for how much young people really want free public transport. Also some good news Nina our UKYP Support Worker is leaving the YDSS team for 10 months to have a lovely baby girl, we all will sincerely miss her and hope she has a happy healthy baby and also at Airedale High School we may be talking to students about UKYP and the YDSS dont forget to follow the GS4UKYP facebook page @ www.facebook.com/georgesmith4ukyp
